Hyperopia or Farsightedness Information

Light rays that are reflected off objects must travel through the refractive elements of the eye and be focused to a point image on the Retina, or back surface of the eye, in order to see clearly. With Hyperopia, or Farsightedness, the eye is not powerful enough to focus light rays reflected off viewed objects onto the retina. The light rays travel to a point focus in imaginary space behind the Retina and the result is a blurred image. People who are farsighted usually have difficulty seeing near objects and in some cases may be so farsighted that distance objects also appear blurry.
